Referrals
We accept referrals for children registered with GP practices within the areas we cover (please see the section above).
In addition, we also take referrals for children just across the county border, registered with GP practices in South Derbyshire.

I worked in general paediatrics at Burton Hospital for seven years before joining the team in September 1999. I took over the role of Team Leader in 2008, and continue to enjoy the challenge of meeting both clinical and managerial duties. I joined the team in May 2006, after working on a general paediatric ward, followed by a short period in Paediatric Intensive Care at Leicester. I have a special interest in palliative and bereavement care and act as the link within the team for this aspect of our work. I am also interested in management of acute illness and phlebotomy.

I took a gap year to India on a medical/nursing placement, working in a leprosy hospital and various community projects. My roles since qualifying as a nurse include the Neonatal unit at Wolverhampton New Cross, acting as breast feeding advocate; Paediatric Intensive Care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, during which I did a one year secondment doing some research into Rapid, a form of wireless monitoring in partnership with McClaren; a six month secondment to Malawi and finally working as a staff nurse with the health visiting team. I joined the CCN team in July of 2018, and currently act as a link nurse for Student placements, and have an interest in education and promoting staff wellbeing.

I joined the CCN team in 2014 after working on a general paediatric ward for 8 years. Children with healthcare problems can spend so much time in a hospital setting, but this role alleviates that and promotes care in the home. I enjoy the clinical nature, whilst being able to develop good working relationships with families and other professionals involved in their care. I especially find supporting families through difficult and challenging times, a rewarding aspect of our role. I am also the Cystic Fibrosis link nurse for the team and liaise with the CF team at UHNM in Stoke to coordinate care for these children in the community.
