JackyJacky Cox

Mental Health Liaison for Autistic Adults

I am a Social Worker and I work as a mental health liaison worker for autistic adults at MPFT across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

This means that I see autistic adults when they are admitted to a local psychiatric hospital.  We look together at reasonable adjustments and at support whilst people are in hospital. I also support Care Coordinators / Keyworkers at MPFT when they are working with an adult who is autistic. This is to promote understanding of autism and to support the work of the MPFT teams.

A collaborative safety plan is a 6-10 session intervention that improves autistic peoples understanding of:

  • Their symptoms of ASD and what this means for them
  • Their offences and the consequences
  • A person’s strengths and challenges

We then make a plan together to reduce the risk of offending
