Our Children & Young People’s (CYP) services
The vast majority of our CYP services operate from within our Children and Families Care Group that provides a wide range of physical and mental health services across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
These services are organised into three key portfolios:
Universal
Targeted
Mental Health
More information on these portfolios and the professions within them can be found in the drop-down accordions below.
Our Universal services are available to all CYP in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent up to the age of 19-years-old.
Many roles within this portfolio work closely with Local Government and other partners to follow a public health approach in order to promote and protect health, prevent ill health and accidents and provide early intervention.
Various teams and staff members will interact with a child or young person depending on their age, stage of development and individual need.
Universal services include roles such as: health visitors for both 0–5-year-olds and 5-19 year olds, a number of school based services including nursing and immunisation teams, and a targeted intervention service.
There are also roles supporting the operation of our Children and Families Single Point of Access (CaFSPA) which simplifies how children, young people and families/carers can receive wellbeing support and guidance.
Getting the best outcomes for CYP often involves working with and supporting those adults who are responsible for their care.
This portfolio provides a wide range of physical health assessment and support to 0-19 year olds along with these adult groups within Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Roles include a wide range of paediatric healthcare professionals working across community, hospital and school settings, including:
Nursing (diabetes, special school, epilepsy, respiratory, community and hospital at home, looked after children)

This portfolio ensures we have dedicated teams working to provide timely assessments and interventions to promote and improve the mental health of CYP and their families in Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Shropshire, with a number of services delivered in partnership to provide integrated care aimed at improving children’s health and wellbeing.
