December DCF Update: Patients Know Best Phase 2 Launches Across Eating Disorders, Perinatal Mental Health, and District Nursing! page thumbnail

Welcome to the December edition of the DCF Programme Update where we go through what we’ve been working on during October and November, and what’s coming up next. Since the last edition of the Programme Update, we have seen Patients Know Best (PKB) Phase 2 go live on the 2nd of December with Eating Disorders, Perinatal Mental Health and District Nursing. PKB helps Health and Social Care Providers bring together patient data and it provides one secure Personal Health Record for the patient that integrates with the NHS App.

Exciting advancements continue within the Digital Capability Framework (DCF) Programme as Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust introduces new tools to empower patients and streamline staff workflows.

Patients Know Best, a secure online portal accessible via web and mobile/tablet applications, is transforming patient engagement by giving individuals more control over their health and care information. Patients can access completed Care Plans within 24 hours, complete Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), and answer tailored questionnaires - all promoting active participation in their care journey.

A key DCF Programme goal is to enhance the RiO Clinical System by consolidating functionality and reducing the need for multiple logins. Recent integrations include:

  • GP Connect - Since its launch in February 2024, GP Connect has provided MPFT staff in various care settings with read-only access to GP records through a seamless click-through in RiO. Averaging 1,000 clicks per day, this feature enables quicker, better-informed clinical decisions.
  • RiO to Safeguard Click-Through - Staff can now view and log incidents directly onto the Trust’s Risk Management System from within RiO. This integration speeds up decision-making by providing immediate access to critical information.
  • National Care Records Service (NCRS) - Next on the horizon is the implementation of a click-through for the National Care Records Service (NCRS), the successor to the Summary Care Record. NCRS will offer health and social care professionals access to comprehensive patient and safeguarding information across regional ICS boundaries. This new feature will further streamline care delivery by automatically filtering information for the patient currently being viewed in RiO.
